Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGBProfessor Kluger becomes executive director of Fraunhofer IGB
On January 1, 2026, Professor Petra Kluger took over as executive director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB. At the same time, the previous executive director, Dr. Markus Wolperdinger, took a sabbatical for research.
Professor Petra Kluger was appointed institute director of Fraunhofer IGB by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Executive Board on June 1, 2025. At the same time, Kluger accepted the appointment to the Chair of Interfacial Process Engineering at the University of Stuttgart and took over as director of the Institute of Interfacial Engineering and Plasma Technology IGVP.
With Dr. Markus Wolperdinger taking a research sabbatical starting in January 2026, Kluger now took over the executive management of Fraunhofer IGB.
