Networking

As a result of affiliation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB in Stuttgart institute-internal networks for the areas biotechnology and molecular biotechnology can be used.

With the location in Straubing, BioCat is ideally linked up with the Kompetenzzentrum für nachwachsende Rohstoffe (Center of Excellence for Renewable Resources), which unites the Campus Straubing für Biotechnologie und Nachhaltigkeit (Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability), the Technologie- und Förderzentrum, TFZ (Technology and Support Center) and the Centrales Agrar-Rohstoff-Marketing- und Entwicklungsnetzwerk e. V. C.A.R.M.E.N. (Central Agricultural Resource Marketing and Development Network). In particular, the Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability with the Chair of  Chemistry of Biogenic Resources of the TU München, and with the fields of Marketing and Management of Renewable Resources, the Economy of Renewable Resources and Inorganic and Organic Chemistry (FHWT), has at its disposal outstanding specialists for comprehensive co-operation on the subject of renewable resources – from catalyst, process and product development to profitability analysis and environmental life cycle assessment.

Cooperations and networks

With its Straubing branch BioCat Fraunhofer IGB is also involved in the Industrielle Biotechnologie Bayern Netzwerk GmbH, a network and service organization in the field of industrial biotechnology. Its objective is the more efficient and faster transfer of scientific findings into innovative products and processes.

As part of the IBB network BioCat is involved, among other things, in the ZIM* cooperation network "UseCO2". The partners involved develop processes to bind carbon dioxide and to make it usable again as a raw material.
