Process validation

Based on our interdisciplinary competences in the fields of food quality and safety as well as process and mechanical engineering, we optimize and validate process concepts to facilitate the introduction of new technologies into the market. Our expertise covers the validation of cleaning procedures of equipment used in food, biotech and cosmetic industries, the verification of hygienic design as well as process and product compliance with standards of food production (e.g. hazard analysis and critical control points, HACCP).

Integrated approach to the process

Through the evaluation of complete process chains, we identify hot spots that require technological improvements to achieve production efficiency. Performance of new technologies are screened and evaluated at pilot and industrial relevant levels including economic and environmental aspects. Mass and energy balances are analyzed in detail and overall impact of these technologies in an integrated production system are estimated. With this approach we assist food industry to make decisions adopting innovative solutions.

Integrated engineering approach validating reduced water and energy consumption in milk processing for wider food supply chain replication – EnReMilk

Project duration: January 2014 – December 2017

Fifteen European partners are working together on optimizing novel water-and energy-saving technologies and integrating them into selected dairy processing lines, while maintaining the quality and safety of the corresponding products.

Automated production of preservative-free choux pastry – ProEclair

Project duration: November 2008 – Oktober 2011

The objective of the ˝ProEclair˝ project funded by the EU is to produce the traditional choux paste automatically under aseptic conditions in order to increase its shelf life substantially.
