Dr. Lenard-Istvan Csepei from the Straubing branch will be on Saturday, October 6, 2018, a lecture within the panel discussion »Are There limits to the Size of Methanol Units? How Can Small-Scale Plants be Profitable?«.

Fraunhofer IGB’s Straubing branch "BioCat" developed a chemical-biotechnological process that can turn small scale methanol plants profitable. The new patented process of BioCat enables to convert syngas or CO₂ into products in only two steps. The products range from drop-in monomers (isoprene, lactic acid) to polymers (poly-hydroxybutyric acid) and terpenoids (farnesene, carotenoids). These products are typically not achievable by conventional chemical processes.
