Vogelgsang, Ferdinand Dr.-Ing.

Sustainable Catalytic Processes

In March 2021, Ferdinand Vogelgsang joined the department of Sustainable Catalytic Processes in Straubing. After attaining his Master's degree in chemical engineering (nanoprocess technology) at the Technical University of Munich, he deepened his knowledge during his doctoral studies with Prof. J.A. Lercher, researching technical chemistry / heterogeneous catalysis. He focused his workon the hydrogenation of polycyclic aromatics on transition metal sulphides.

At the IGB, Ferdinand works on the development of heterogeneous catalytic processes for the conversion of CO2, H2 and bogenig raw material, to synthetic fuels and commodity chemicals. Since the beginning of 2024, he manages the Chemical Technology group.

    • Synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts
    • Catalytic reactors and processes
    • Microkinetic studies and reaction network analysis
    • Reaction scale up and macroscopic reaction engineering
