Science Day at University of Stuttgart

Once a year, the University of Stuttgart opens the doors to its laboratories. Exhibits, lectures, experiments you can touch and help perform: this is how we bring research and teaching to life. We demonstrate exciting research topics and provide information on study programs as well as occupational training and continuing education at the University.

On Science Day, the University of Stuttgart also shows its youngest guests how exciting science can be. The pupil campus entertains with a multitude of hands-on offerings for kids and youths.

The IGVP at Science Day – diversity in Research

The IGB partner institute at the University of Stuttgart, the Institute of Interfacial Process Engineering and Plasma Technology IGVP, will be presenting itself on the "Science Day" with an information booth in Pfaffenwaldring 9.

Various exhibits give an insight into the numerous possible applications of interfacial process technology and plasma technology. As a research example in the field of biotechnology, the institute is exhibiting an algae reactor, with the help of which microalgae are cultivated and used as a renewable resource for the production of various valuable substances.

The use of interfacial process engineering in medicine is demonstrated by means of vascular models and biomaterials. These are used in tissue engineering, ie in the production of artificial tissue based on human cells. Such tissues can be used – for example in the form of artificial skin – as test systems for the research of active ingredients.

Guided tours of the institute – experience plasma up close

In addition, guided tours offer even deeper insights into the research work of the IGVP. Interested guests are invited to view the facilities of the technology department and experimental setups in the field of plasma research in operation and up close. Meeting point is the information stand, Pfaffenwaldring 9.
