We combine biology and engineering ...

... by using methane produced in biogas plants or sugars extracted from wood waste as a carbon source for bacteria to produce biobased and biodegradable polymers for packaging.

We hope to extract the bacterial polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) using physical methods in order to avoid the use of environmentally harmful solvents. Sustainable packaging made of biodegradable polymers can thus be produced in an economically and ecologically efficient way.
