Conductive membrane as oxidative surface to prevent biofilms and deposits

The EU project ConductMem deals with a central problem of water filtration plants and especially membrane filtration plants: biofilms and the biological blocking of filters. The project aims to develop a system in which the formation of a biofilm by germicidal oxidative substances is permanently prevented. The oxidative substances are to be electrolytically produced by the filter membrane itself. The trans-European consortium of mainly medium-sized companies will demonstrate the technology on membrane bioreactors for wastewater treatment.
