Modular plant engineering

Increasingly shorter development and implementation times for process engineering processes with simultaneous increases in efficiency, adaptivity and flexibility in operation as well as simple scalability in the event of fluctuating demand are current drivers for modular plant design in the process industry. Due to the broad engineering expertise available at the institute, aspects of modular plant construction can be incorporated into process development and realized up to demonstration, as already shown in the Fraunhofer consortium MODAB.

Fraunhofer MODAB platform

The process industry can only react quickly enough to changing market requirements with versatile, modular systems. Classical process engineering plants are often too inflexible and too expensive for this.

More flexible customer needs and increasing requirements due to new standards and guidelines (e.g. VDI guidelines 2658-1 and 2776-1) present modular plant construction with ever new challenges. Topics such as digitalization, networking and automation also play an increasingly important role in the manufacture and operation of process engineering plants.

The Fraunhofer Institutes IFF, IKTS, CBP and UMSICHT are pooling their expertise and know-how in process and plant engineering for this purpose in the Fraunhofer MODAB platform. The Fraunhofer MODAB platform is aimed at equipment manufacturers, plant engineers and planners from the process industry, component manufacturers and suppliers of measurement and control technology, process control systems and safety engineering.

The platform offers you and your company a comprehensive service portfolio for all areas of process technology and plant engineering – for your individual solution or as a cooperation partner in a long-term collaboration.
